Maureen Enns, artist and environmental researcher, also teaches at the Alberta College of Art, Calgary (Canada). Enn's experiences of wild environments have always been at the centre of her life and artistic work. Her hands-on ideas on wild life management and preservation lent her to go around the world, speaking to an interested public and scientists. Each travel experience has translated itself into a group of visual narrations - experiences and memories distilled into a variety of medium. Enns' work is a juxtaposition of realism and abstraction - an intuitive result and figurative recording. Enns presented Through the Eyes of the Bear from the 1st to the 9th of April 2000 in the camac gallery, with a view to provide the means for a better understanding of the Grizzly Bear, with photographs, material, sounds and animated images. Enns is presently dividing her year between Canada and Russia, where she and her collaborator Charlie Russell live amongst the largest Grizzly bears known to man - the Kodiak
